DEC Superscan II Diagnostic Tester |
For the independent specialist or general garage DEC Superscan II is one of the most advanced automotive diagnostic scanners in the world today.
The Superscan II is a Laptop based scanner comprising of a small blue interface box, about the size of a paperback book, the cable set and the software. All the customer needs is a Windows PC or Laptop to run the software.
The independent garage trade is constantly demanding OEM or near OEM tools to remove the frustration of not being able to carry out higher end ECU vehicle diagnostics. This is especially true when it comes to coding or reprogramming ECUs that are damaged and need replacing.

Coding
This is where the Superscan comes into its own. It can code/reprogram keys, airbags, central body control units and more. In most cases it actually does the programming in an easier way than the OEM tool. How? Because the Superscan has its own built in INFORMATION SYSTEMS that gives you the exact procedure for each programming functionality before you start. Just select the system you wish to program from the sub menu, press Information, and up comes the procedure on your screen. It's that simple!
The only way to really see the Superscan's advantages, is in use. Independent garage owners who see the system are amazed at how advanced and yet easy to use it is.
Live Data 
Complete Live Data streams in large clear displays. Each Live Data block can be GRAPHED, has the ability to display MINIMUM and MAXIMUM values reached over long time periods, and can also give you reference to the generic value that it should be.
In addition the Superscan can take up to three different Live Data SNAPSHOTS of all the data that an ECU is receiving, at three different engine speeds. These three lists of data can then be compared, printed or even saved as a FLIGHT RECORDER file.
Adaptation
Adaptation of ECUs to their factory default settings can be performed where the ECU allows it. This is very important when fitting certain new sensors to specific engines, as the ECU will not immediately re-learn the new sensors parameters unless it is adapted.
DTC - Error Code Reading and Erasing
The Superscan has all the functionality that you would expect to find in a high end scanner.
This includes DTC (error code) reading and erasing, with error code text that has been checked by a UK independent diagnostic specialist.
Activation
Activation of components. The Superscan, where the ECU allows it, will perform test activations of components. On an engine for example, the list of COMPONENTS that can be activated, could include:
• Injectors
• EGR valves
• Stepper motors
• Fuel pump relays
• Air-conditioning relays and more….
However, activation is not limited to engines and can also be done in ABS, central locking, aircon, immobiliser and other ECUs. This is a very quick way of double-checking whether you have a relay fault or ECU fault.
Special Functions
• Control Unit Configuration (i.e. Airbags)
• Control Unit Adjustment (i.e. Load Potentiometer in Diesel Engines)
• Control Unit Programming (i.e. Ignition Key)
Hardware/Software
The Superscan's software display is large and very clear, with easily readable information. You can run the software on any Windows platform: 98 / ME / NT / 2000 / XP, PC or Laptop. It does not have to be a new or high-end laptop. PC Laptop connection can be made through Serial or USB ports.
